#PSmothersdayspecial Always my favourite, forever !!! Although I don't enjoy fish that much (I know, being a Bengali I am supposed to but I don't), this remains to be my most preferred fish dish.. "FISH CUTLETS OR MACHER CHOP"... Learnt it from mum and for me, no one can such amazing cutlets like her.. this is the 1st thing that i had learnt from her and now I make the same at home..

  • 500 gm Fish rohu katla
  • 6 Potatoes
  • 2 Onions chopped
  • 1 tbsp Garlic chopped
  • 1 tbsp Green Chillies chopped
  • 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1/4 cup Ground Nuts fried th
  • 1-2 tsp Salt or as per taste
  • Refined Oil
  • Coating outer
  • Bread Crumbs
  • Egg Whites


  • Boil the fish and potatoes together in a pressure cooker, cool and mash them together, add some salt and mix. make sure that there are no fish bones in it. Keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add chopped garlic and chillies. Once they start smelling, add the chopped onions.
  • Fry till golden brown and add the ginger garlic paste and masalas. Add the mashed potato - fish mixture. Cook till done.
  • Add the fried groundnuts and cool the mixture.
  • Shape the mixture into small patties. Coat them with egg whites and bread crumbs. Deep fry them in hot oil to serve.
