  • Yellow moong dal/split - 1/2 cup
  • Finely chopped spinach - 1 cup
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Red chilly powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin seeds powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • For tempering
  • Clarified butter/ghee - 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Finely chopped garlic - 5 cloves


  • Wash moong dal/split and add in the pressure cooker with three cup of water.
  • When cooker release the whistle sim the flame for five mins.
  • Once cooled,mix the dal.
  • Heat clarified butter in a pan.
  • Add spinach leaves,turmeric powder,red chilly powder,cumin seeds powder and salt and mix well.
  • Cook spinach in slow flame for five mins.
  • Add ready moong dal in the pan and mix well.
  • Add moong dal in the service bowl and tempered.
  • Heat clarified butter in a pan.
  • Add cumin seeds and garlic cloves fry till dark brown.
  • Tempered the dal,serve hot.
