Ingredients for Kairichi Kadhi/raw Mango Kadhi

  • Raw mangoes ( 2 no medium size)
  • Oil (1/2 tblspn)
  • Mustard seeds (rai)
  • Cumin seeds (jeera)
  • Garlic (6-7 cloves chopped)
  • Green chillies (3-4 no chopped)
  • Wheat flour (1-2 tspn)
  • Turmeric powder (haldi)
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar (8-9 tblspn)
  • Jaggery/Gud (optional)
  • Coriander leaves to garnish
  • Water

How to cook Kairichi Kadhi/raw Mango Kadhi

  1.  Boil two raw mangoes in 2 cups of water for about 10-15 mins.
  2. Once the mangoes are cooked,cool them.
  3. Squeeze and peel out the pulp completely.
  4.  If there are small-small lumps of pulp,blend the pulp together so that it is a consistent mixture.
  5. Take about 1-2 or 1&1/2 teaspoon of wheat flour and add to the mango pulp mixture.
  6. Whisk or churn them together to mix well. Ensure that no lumps of wheat flour are left.
  7. Heat 1/2 tblspn oil in  broad vessel. Add mustard & cumin seeds.
  8. Add the chopped garlic and green chillies and curry leaves.
  9. Add the mango-wheat pulp mixture and mix well.
  10. Add turmeric powder,salt and sugar.Add 1 cupof water (as reqd) mix well and give it a boil.
  11. If the mangoes are too sour add jaggery along-with sugar.
  12. Garnish with coriander leaves.
