Idli is a popular breakfast dish all over India but it is mainly a staple of South India. There are different varieties of idli and I present to you the simplest form. Idli served with milagai podi(gun powder) and sesame oil.

Ingredients
 

  • 4 cup Rice raw
  • 1 cup Udad Dal - 1 Cup udad dal
  • Rice poha - 1 fistful beaten
  • 1-2 tsp Salt or as per taste
  • to Idli or oil oil grease the moulds

Instructions
 

  • Soak the rice, udad dal and poha together for 8 hours or overnight.
  • Grind all together in a mixer grinder till a soft fluffy consistency.
  • Add salt and let it ferment overnight.
  • Grease the idli plates and pour a ladle of batter in each.
  • Steam for 15-20 minutes and serve hot with gun powder and sesame oil.
