Chicken breasts are probably one of the most cooked and popular dishes out there. They are healthy, lean, and full of protein. You can enjoy them in many forms and variations, such as grilled, baked, pan-fried, or shredded chicken on a sandwich.
There are tons of recipes out there that you can make with chicken breasts. In this post, I will share with you one of the easiest and healthiest ways to cook chicken breasts – in the Instant Pot. I love cooking them in the Instant Pot for many reasons.
Firstly, it is quick and easy. When cooked under pressure, the cooking time is drastically reduced, and you end up with dinner in no time. Also, you can cook frozen meat in the Instant Pot, which makes life so much easier.
Since I got my Instant Pot about 5 years ago, this is the only way I cook the chicken breasts. I am a professional chef and food blogger, and I highly recommend giving this recipe a try.
All you have to do is basically season the poultry, place it in the pot, and cook under high pressure. It is very convenient and easy.
You can cook it during the busy weekdays in less than 30 minutes. Also, feel free to make a larger batch, and refrigerate for later. You can pair this dish with pretty much anything.
For a healthier diet, go with steamed broccoli. Or if you are looking for something more traditional, then go with Instant Pot mashed potatoes.

  • 3 tablespoon canola oil
  • 4 chicken breasts boneless, skinless, thawed
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1-2 lemon slices

Instructions
 

  • Season - Season the meat first with spices and herbs for a savory flavor that compliments the meat.
  • Sauté - Turn on the sauté function of the IP and add oil in the pot. Brown each side of the breasts then, remove from the pot.
  • Pressure Cook - Put the trivet and liquid in the bottom of the pot. Place the meat on the trivet and cook on high heat.
  • Pressure Release - Naturally release the pressure for five minutes and then, do a quick pressure release.
  • Rest - Let the meat rest for another five minutes before serving with lemons.

What is an Instant Pot?
An Instant Pot is a multi-cooker that does the job of a slow cooker, electric pressure cooker, steamer, and yogurt maker. It basically cooks the ingredients under high pressure at a fraction of a traditional, over the traditional stovetop method.
Why cook Chicken the Instant Pot?
As stated above, cooking chicken in the Instant Pot is very convenient and quick. Compared to the traditional stovetop or oven method, the cooking time is greatly reduced.

How to cook frozen chicken breast in the instant pot?
Cooking frozen breasts is also possible. You do not need to thaw them, simply increase the cooking time by about 5 minutes, depending on how many breasts you are planning to cook.
Can you stack chicken in the instant pot?
Yes, you can, but is not recommended. This will work with fresh meat, but for frozen ones, you should only put all the pieces in one layer. It is best to leave some space between them so that air can circulate freely.
How long you should cook frozen chicken breasts in the instant pot or pressure cooker?
I like to cook it anywhere between 8-10 minutes depending on the size of the breasts. If they are small, the cooking time should be about 8 minutes, followed by NPR (natural pressure release).
If cooking larger-sized breasts, then increase the time to about 10 minutes. It is best to check the chicken’s internal temperature prior to serving. For safe consumption, it is recommended to cook them up to 165 degrees F. 
Can you cook a whole chicken in the Instant Pot?
