About Hibiscus Tea

Hibiscus, affectionately known as Gudhal in India, transforms this traditional tea into a vibrant, rejuvenating beverage. These striking blossoms—found in a rainbow of hues—bring not only visual charm but also a natural boost of vitamin C and powerful antioxidants to your cup.
Celebrated in Indian homestyle cooking, hibiscus tea is renowned for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, making each sip both nourishing and revitalizing.
With its tangy, floral notes that dance on the palate, this classic drink is as beneficial as it is delicious. Enjoy a soothing brew that supports your well-being while delighting your senses with every taste.

Instructions

  • Just wash the flowers, then tear the petals, dip in boiled water for 15 minutes. Not more than fifteen minutes otherwise it may be bitter in taste.
  • Then strain and serve.
  • If you want you can add lemon juice and honey. But without adding anything it is also good.

Recipe Notes

Additional Tips

  • For a floral twist and heightened aroma, add a few crushed cardamom pods or a small stick of cinnamon while steeping the hibiscus petals, then strain before serving.
  • If you prefer a chilled version, brew the tea stronger and pour it over ice cubes made from pre-frozen hibiscus tea to avoid dilution and intensify the flavor.
  • To create a natural sweetener with a tangy hint, stir in a spoonful of honey or jaggery while the tea is still warm; for a tart, cooling effect, add a few drops of fresh lime juice just before serving.
  • Dried hibiscus petals store well in an airtight container in a cool, dark place—allowing you to prepare this beverage year-round and even blend them into other herbal teas for a custom infusion.
