Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp oil or ghee
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  • water as required to knead the dough
  • 1 tsp kalonji black sesame seeds
  • oil for frying

Instructions
 

  • Take flour in a mixing bowl
  • Add ghee, salt, carom seeds and mix well
  • Add water little by little and make a stiff dough
  • Cover and keep aside for 30 minutes
  • Now divide the dough into equal portions and roll each portions into a smooth ball
  • Roll each ball into a little thick disc
  • Take a cookie cutter and cut it into circles

  • Now make 8 cut impressions

  • For petal shape gather and twist the portion at tha edge

  • Apply water in the center and sprinkle kalonji and press it

  • Make all the mathris in the same way
  • Prick the mathris with a toothpick
  • Heat oil in a pan
  • When it becomes hot, lower the flame to medium
  • Gently slide in the mathris and fry both sides on medium flame till crispy
  • Once done, drain and remove on absorbent paper
  • When it becomes cool store in an air tight container
