This recipe of cinnamon flavoured doughnuts uses a batter instead of the usual dough to make doughnuts. Doughnuts can be baked or fried according to choice. Doughnuts can be made easily at home and serve as a quick indulgence.
All purpose flour - 180 g
Milk - 100 ml
Egg - 1 beaten
Sugar - 20 g
Active dry yeast - 2.5 g
Butter - 20 g
Oil to fry the doughnuts
Powdered cinnamon and sugar to coat the doughnuts
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Take 2 tbsp of warm water with 1 tsp of sugar and add the yeast to it and stir well. Cover and let stand for 10 minutes. The mixture will turn frothy.
Take the milk in a saucepan and warm it slightly. Add the butter and melt it completely by mixing well. Now add the sugar, beaten egg and yeast mixture to it. Mix well.
Take the flour in a wide bottomed vessel. Add the milk mixture to it and make a thick batter like that of vadas. Cover with a cloth and let it stand for 1-2 hours.
Once the batter has doubled in size, mix it lightly and keep aside.
Heat the oil in a frying pan and drop small balls of batter in it. Cook on a low flame till they turn brown and are fully cooked.
Roll the hot doughnuts in the cinnamon sugar mixture and enjoy with hot coffee.
The batter should be thick.
