Coriander chutney is the condiment which is made in every Bengali home. My childhood memories of this chutney is of my mom grinding its ingredients with great energy on the sheel-baata(flat grinding stone). Today fast paced technology enables us to prepare this chutney in 5 minutes in a food processor. My take on this traditional Bengali dish is adding one special ingredient that not only enhances the flavor but also is very enriching and healthy and that special ingredient is avocado.
1 ripe avocado
2 Roma tomatoes
6 green chillies(or 4 if you like less spice)
4 garlic cloves
1/2 knob ginger
1 tbsp white distilled vinegar(you can use lemon juice also)
A small bunch of cilantro
Salt as per taste
A quarter of small onion
Cut the avocado into 2 halves, remove the stone or pulp inside and scoop out the avocado using a spoon into a bowl.
Grind the rest of the ingredients in a electric mixture or blender . When the mixture is smooth, add the avocados into the mixture and blend it again for 2-3 minutes.
The chutney is ready. Can use it as a spread for sandwiches or goes with chips and parathas too or serve it along with rice.
