Delicious Mixed Fruit Salad With Chia Seeds
About Delicious Mixed Fruit Salad With Chia Seeds
This delicious fruit salad recipe is adapted from a South Indian dessert, "Panchamirtham" that is made as a part of bhog/prasadam during festivals and pujas in temples and households in Tamil Nadu. The recipe calls for various kinds of fruits like apple, banana, pears, plums, dates and pomegranate. It contains a small portion of jaggery to sweeten the dessert and to enhance the nutritious content of the dish as jaggery is rich in iron and aids in digestion. The authentic version of panchamirtham recipe has milk or curd, ghee, honey, edible camphor, elaichi powder and rock sugar to add on to its taste. Here I have skipped all these except for elaichi powder, as I wanted to keep the salad simple and basic with the natural flavours of the fresh fruits. The highlight in this recipe I have included LYVA's Organic Raw Chia Seeds that are rich in Omega-3 & Omega-6 essential fatty acids, protein and dietary fiber to make it more nourishing.
