Cryspy Lotus Root

Lotus root has a wide range of health benefits. It is an aquatic plant. The lotus root is a long, woody object that attaches to the bottom of the water level and can stretch up 3 to 4 ft. It can be washed, sliced and then prepared. It is also used in the natural or powered forming traditional herbal medicine. It has the texture of a potato and taste slightly like coconut before adding any extra flavour.

Ingredients
  

  • 250 gm Lotus roots
  • 1/2 cup rice flour
  • 1/2 cup gram flour
  • 1 tsp green chilli paste
  • 1/2 red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Ginger paste
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
  • Oil for deep fry
  • 1/2 tsp asafoetida powder
  • Salt

Instructions
 

  • Cut the roots and thoroughly washed. Peel off the skin if needed. Sometimes there may be sticky mudy into the hole.

  • Boil with adding little salt. Strain the excess water and keep aside.
  • Make a batter with gram flour, rice flour, green chilli paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, ginger paste, cinnamon powder, salt and asafoetida. It should be a good consistent.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Dip the boiled roots into the batter then deep fry.
  • It can be served as a snack.
