Chocolate Orange Brownie

This Chocolate 'Orange' Brownies are as delicious as it looks. Luscious bitter chocolate (75% cocoa) chunks are added to make this tasty and healthy brownies. These no sugar, no butter, no maida brownie squares are really a guilt free indulgence.
A lot of healthy components are carefully packed inside this bake. A blend of healthier flours like wholewheat flour, jowar flour and ragi flour are included to make this chocolate orange brownies. Powdered organic jaggery is used as the sweetener and sunflower oil replaces the butter.
The wonderful orange tint is given by not only the fresh orange juice, but a secret ingredient (no more a secret now) - carrots. The lovely mix of ingredients has turned out to a yummy bake.

Ingredients
  

  • 3/4 cup Bitter chocolate chunks, 75% cocoa
  • 1/2 cup Whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup Jowar flour
  • 1/4 cup Ragi flour
  • 1/2 cup Sunflower oil
  • 2 Egg
  • 2 Carrots
  • 1/2 Orange juice Fresh, from half an orange
  • 1/2 teaspoon Orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla essence
  • 3/4 cup Powdered jaggery
  • 1 tbsp Dark Chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp Bitter chocolate chocolate shavings
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt

Instructions
 

  • Boil the carrots until cooked perfectly.
  • Drain excess water and allow to cool completely. Then grind it to make a smooth puree.
  • Sieve the wholewheat flour, jowar flour, baking powder and salt together 3-4 times. (Do not add ragi flour now). Keep it aside.
  • Melt the bitter chocolate chunks with 1/4 cup sunflower oil in microwave. You may use double boiling method also.
  • Once done, keep it aside to cool down completely.
  • Now beat the eggs in a bowl.
  • To this, add vanilla essence, the remaining 1/4 cup sunflower oil and powdered jaggery and beat again until well combined.
  • Now divide this mixture into two.
  • To one half add the melted chocolate mix and combine.
  • To this add the ragi flour also and mix well.
  • Then add in half of the flour mixture sieved earlier.
  • Add 2-3 tbsp of water if the batter is too thick.
  • Next, to the second half of the egg mixture, add the orange juice, orange zest and pureed carrots.
  • Mix well until combined.
  • Next add the second half of the flour mixture too and mix well.
  • Now prepare the baking dish with oil and parchment paper.
  • Preheat the oven to 170 degree centigrade.
  • Pour the chocolate batter into the baking dish.
  • Then pour the orange mix to the dish.
  • With a toothpick, create swirl patterns.
  • Next add the chocolate chips and chocolate shavings.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
