Recipe Notes
Additional Tips
- For a ripple effect and bursts of cherry flavor, swirl in a homemade cherry compote or cherry jam just before freezing, rather than fully mixing it into the base.
- To enhance the cherry depth, add a splash of kirsch (cherry brandy) or almond extract to the ice cream mixture—both complement cherries beautifully and add a subtle complexity.
- If you prefer a chunkier texture, fold in chopped roasted pistachios or crushed amaretti biscuits during the final stage before freezing for added crunch and flavor contrast.
- Store the ice cream in an airtight, shallow container and press a layer of parchment or plastic wrap directly onto the surface to prevent ice crystals and maintain creamy consistency.
