Chaat Basket

Made these beautiful baskets which can be used for any chaat. it can be made days in advance and keep well when stored in air tight container, just rustle up the filling and serve these pretty baskets to display your culinary skills to your family and friends.

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon semolina
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 pinch carom seeds
  • 1 pinch cumin seed
  • Salt
  • water as required to prepare the dough
  • oil for deep frying


  • combine flour, semolina, carom seeds, cumin seeds, salt and oil in a bowl and mix well
  • add water and knead a stiff dough
  • divide the dough into 8 equal portions
  • take one portion of the dough and roll it like a thin chapati
  • then cut it into strips
  • stick the strips on a steel bowl by putting the bowl upside down
  • give a mat-like shape by sticking the strips horizontally and vertically
  • join the ends of the strips with the help of water
  • heat oil in a kadai and deep fry the bowl on low-medium flame until crispy
  • take the basket out when it is golden brown in color
  • separate the basket from steel bowl and it is ready
