About Cabbage Sandwich

This cabbage sandwich is a quick and wholesome recipe I created during my college days, born out of the need for something filling, fast, and healthy when time and energy were in short supply. With crisp cabbage, fresh onion, juicy tomato, and a hint of green chillies and zeera, it's a flavorful solution that kept me energized for long study sessions.
Wanting to be independent and not rely on my mother for every meal, I devised this simple yet satisfying sandwich. It's perfect for anyone looking for a low-effort, weight-conscious breakfast that doesn't skimp on taste or nutrition—ideal for busy mornings or whenever you crave a light, homemade bite.

Recipe Notes

Additional Tips

  • For extra crunch and a nutty flavor, toss a spoonful of roasted peanuts or sesame seeds into the cabbage mixture just before assembling the sandwich.
  • If you prefer a completely vegan sandwich, use plant-based spreads like hummus or green chutney instead of butter to add moisture and an extra layer of flavor.
  • Lightly toast the bread on a skillet with a pinch of zeera (cumin seeds) pressed onto the outer surface for a fragrant, crispy crust that complements the filling.
  • To prevent the sandwich from getting soggy if packed for later, layer a few lettuce leaves or cabbage leaves between the bread and the moist filling to act as a barrier.
