Idli is one of the popular dish of South Indian. Broken Wheat Instant Idli is delicious as well as healthy dish because it contains large amount of health benefiting nutrients. Broken wheat idli is an instant idli recipe prepared with broken wheat. A good start of the day with healthy breakfast. It is quick and easy to prepare and doesn’t require fermentation for this recipe.
1 cup Broken Wheat
Â½ cup hung Curd
Â½-1 cup Water as required
Salt to taste
Â¼ tsp Baking Soda
2 tbsps Coriander leaves finely chopped
Oil or Ghee to grease idli plate
For Tempering: 1 tsp Oil
1 tsp Mustard Seeds
1 tbsp Urad Dal
A pinch Asafoetida
1 Green Chilly finely chopped
Take broken wheat in a blender and run it once or twice till it is a little fine.
Take that in a bowl, add curd, salt, water, coriander leaves and mix well.
Now make tempering by heating oil and add all the ingredients given in the list and let it sizzle for a min.
Pour the tempering over the idli batter and mix well. Add in some more water and mix well till it is correct consistency. Now add in the baking soda and mix.
Grease the idli plates with oil or ghee.
Scoop the idli batter in the greased idli plate, dont over fill it. Steam it for 10-12 mins on medium heat.
Remove it and let it cool for 5 mins. Now dip a spoon in some water and release the idlies.
Serve with any chutney or sambar or dal.
