Boondi Raita

Boondi raita is the most indian raita prepared with curd, boondi, salt, roasted cumin powder etc. Boondi are tiny fried gram flour balls, they are available in grocery shops. Boondi are salted and crisp.

  • Salted or plane boondi 1 cup
  • Curd 1/2 kg
  • Roasted cumin powder 2 tsp
  • Red chili powder 1 tsp or to taste
  • Finely chopped green chili 2 no
  • Chopped coriander 1 tbsp
  • Salt
  • Black salt 1/2 tsp
  • Heeng powder 1/2 tsp
  • Finely chopped mint leaves or powdered mint
  • For tempering ----Pinch of heeng
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Red chili powder 1/2 tsp
  • Ghee 1tsp


  • Whisk yogurt till smooth.

  • Add salt,black salt,cumin pwoder,chili,green chili,and heeng.
  • Now add boondi, mix well. heat the ghee in a tadka pan add heeng, cumin and red chili powder as the splutter pour the tadka in raita.
  • coriander and mint ,cool it and serve with pulao,biryani or stuffed paratha.
