One of the ever popular cakes in our Indian market is perhaps this, BLACK FOREST...Though originating in Germany the traditional recipe uses cherries soaked in a local rum, the version famous here is the Eggless and alcohol free.

Ingredients
- 1 cup Refined flour sifted
- 1/3 cup Oil
- 3/4 Cup Powdered Sugar
- 1/2 cup Cocoa Powder
- 3/4 cup Milk
- 1 tsp Vinegar
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/2 Tsp Vanilla Essence
- 2 tbsp Cherries frozen
- 1 tsp Salt or as per taste
- 1 cup Whipping Cream whipped rich
- 1/2 cup Sugar Syrup
- 1/2 cup Grated Dark Compound grated dark compound

Instructions
- Pre heat the oven to 180 degrees for 10 minutes.
- Mix the milk and vinegar and keep aside for 5 mins. The milk will curdle. This is called Buttermilk that is used for cake recipes.
- Sift the maida, cocoa powder, baking soda, sugar, salt and keep.
- Add the oil and vanilla essence to the buttermilk.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry one and mix gently to get a uniform batter.
- Bake for about 25/30 mins. Check with tooth pick. If it comes out clean, the cake is done.
- Demould the cake after cooling.Let it cool completely before applying icing.
- Cut the cake horizontally in two layers
- Soak the layers with the sugar syrup lightly
- Apply about 2 tablespoons whipped cream between the two layers.
- Add the cherries and the grated dark Chocolate.
- Keep the top layer of the cake and similarly apply the whipped cream on the top and sides.
- Sprinke grated Dark Chocolate on the top and sides
- Cool the cake in the fridge for 30 minutes.
- Again, apply the final layer of Whipped cream and giving neat finishing with a butter knife.
- Decorate with the frozen cherries
- Store in fridge till the cakes sets well.
- Remove from fridge one hour before serving or have it Chilled...!!
