Black and White Roti is a special preparation of roti enjoyed by the people in Uttarakhand or Uttaranchal. It is also called 'thag roti' or 'cheat bread'.
Made with wheat flour stuffed with dough of mandua flour, this yummy and tasty two-flavor roti is a must-try.

  • kg Whole wheat flour one
  • 500 gm Mandua Flour a cereal only available in the garhwal region mandua
  • 2 gm Ajwain or jeera or half or jeera
  • Water as required
  • 1-2 tsp Salt or as per taste
  • 1/2 cup Butter white Butter or ghee to serve with roti


  • Take wheat flour and salt add water and knead it. Keep it separately.
  • Next, take the mandua flour, ajwain, salt and water and knead it. Keep this also separately.
  • Prepare a small ball of the wheat flour and stuff it with the mandua flour dough. Roll it into a round shape like chappati and cook it on a tawa.
  • Serve the preparation with lots of white butter or ghee.
