Batata Vada

Batata vada is the very common street food of India. But it is specificalky from Mumbai Maharashtra.In Mumbai its famous by the name called Batata Vada.. Aloo bonda some where else.

  • 6 boiled potatoes
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 2 finely chopped green chilli
  • Few chopped dhania leavves
  • 1/2 tspn haldi powder
  • 1 tspn salt
  • 1 tspn chat masala
  • 1/2 tspn dhania seeds
  • 1/2 tspn red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tspn garam masala
  • 1/2 tspn ginger paste
  • 1 bowll besan


  • Boil the potatoes. Now mash them nicely. Add chopped onion, chopped green chilli, dhania seeds, chaat masala, salt to taste, red chilli powder, garam masala to it.
  • Now mix it properly so that all the masalas and mashed potatoes are combined to each other. Now make balls of this potato mixture smoothly.keep these balls aside. Now for batter take a mixing bowl. Put the besan in it.
  • Now add salt to taste and little bit red chilli to it. Mix it by adding water to it. Make a batter without any lumps. But the batter should not be runny because we have to coat the potato balls in it.
  • Now start making Batata vada.heat the oil for frying. Dip the batata balls in the batter and drop it in the heated oil. Deep fry them from both the sides of it. When it turns brown, remove them from oil on tissue
  • Serve these Batata vada with green chutney or tomato ketchup.
