Basic Walnut Cake

A basic walnut cake made with few simple ingredients. Its soft, moist and goes well with a cup of tea or coffee.

Ingredients
  

  • All purpose flour 1 cup
  • Eggs 4
  • Butter 100 grams at room temperature
  • Powdered sugar 1 cup
  • Baking powder 1 tsp
  • Baking soda 1/2 tsp
  • Vanilla extract 1 tsp
  • Wanuts 1 cup crushed
  • Milk 1/4 cup
  • Butter or oil for greasing the cake tin

Instructions
 

  • Preheat Oven at 180° C and grease a circular cake tin 8×8 inch with butter lined with parchment paper and keep aside.
  • In a mixing bowl break four eggs add vanilla extract and beat untill the eggs are double in size and form a ribbon like consistency.
  • In another bowl beat together powdered sugar and butter until soft and smooth mixture is formed.
  • Sieve together all purpose flour, baking powder and baking soda in the softened butter sugar mixture.
  • Add the beaten egg mixture in batches and mix using cut and fold method.
  • Add milk to make a smooth batter if required.
  • At last add crushed walnuts and mix it well.
  • Pour the cake batter in greased cake tin and tap to make an even layer from all sides.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180° C for 35 minutes. Keep an eye on the cake after 30 minutes.
  • Once done insert a toothpick to check the cake is nicely cooked or not. The cake is done if it comes out clean.

  • Let the cake cool down completely, take it out from the tin cut in slices and enjoy with a cup of tea!
