Banana Flower Pickle – Home Recipe

Ingredients
- Bungaa - 2pcs
- Green chilli cut into half ( - 10pcs
- Potato - 4pcs
- Lime/lemon - 3pcs
- Mustard Oil ( - 4tbsps
- Salt - 1 1/2 tbsps (to taste
- Fresh ginger ( - 50gms
- Roasted sesame seed paste ( - 4tbsps
- Cumin & Coriander powder - 1 tbsp each
- Turmeric powder ( - 1 tbsp
- Fenugreek seed - 70gms
Instructions
- 1. First of all make ready all the required equipment for making this dish. (Mixing bowl, pan, separate bowl for putting items, spatula, gloves, clean bowl ) (Collect all the ingredients mentioned above)
- 2. Clean the banana flower, remove first few layers of banana flower. Collect the baby flowers which you can find around the flower layers.
- 3. Then trim all around and cut the root of it and discard.
- 4. Put the banana flower and potato in a pressure cooker and steam it covered fully dissolving in water for 25 minutes.
- 5. After its cooked remove it from pressure cooker and separate the flower of banana, start removing small root found inside each flower which is not edible.
- 6. After cleaned put banana flower and potato together then mash it with hand. Use gloves if possible otherwise wash your hands first before touching the food.
- 7. Squeeze 3 pcs of lemon on the mixture. This pickle is more delicious when its sour and spicy however you can adjust them according to your palate.
- 8. In a separate pan add mustard oil then temper it with green chili, fenugreek seed,ginger paste, cumin coriander powder, turmeric powder.
- 9. After add this tempered paste on a mixture of potato and banana flower. Then mix well while you check the taste of it make sure spiciness and salt is well balanced.
