This banana chips recipe is the very popular banana chips of Kerala. It is very tasty, crispy and salty banana chips just like store bought. Hygienically made at home. This banana chip has awesome taste and texture. Loved and savoured by all all age group. Perfect and healthy snacks for kids as well. Just 5 ingredients which can be sourced easily and your healthy homemade chips is ready.
Yield / Serves
Raw Plantain - 3
Coconut oil - 1 cup
Water - 3-4 tbsp
Salt to taste
Turmeric powder - 2 tsp
In a small bowl add water, salt and turmeric powder, stir and mix well. Keep aside.
Slit the banana skin and peel them and sliced them very thinly using a slicer.
Heat oil in a pan. When the oil is hot, simmer the heat and add the sliced banana one at a time and fry on medium heat for few mins till it begins to crisp.
Simmer the heat and sprinkle little Turmeric water. Be careful it might splash. Increase to medium heat and fry again. When the sizzling stops take the chips out and drain in an absorbent paper.
Serve immediately or store it in an air tight container.
For authentic taste I recommend to use coconut oil for frying.
