Gulab jamuns – I have a serious addiction to these beauties; I can never stop having them, and I love making them too. In this recipe, I used mashed potatoes and milk powder, making it good for health.
Potatoes contain potassium, calcium, and magnesium, all of which have been found to decrease blood pressure. Research suggests that vitamin C may help reduce the severity and duration of a cold, and potatoes are a good source of vitamin C.

  • Cut the potatoes into 4 pieces and then boil them in the cooker for 4 whistles. Drain the potatoes in a colander, let them cool for some time, then peel and mash them well.
  • After mashing, add 1 1/4 cups of maida, mix it, add 1 cup of milk powder, baking soda, knead a dough without any lumps, add a small amount of ghee to prevent sticking.
  • Now, the dough is ready. Set it aside for 10 minutes.
  • Now, we are going to make sugar syrup. Take 2 cups of sugar and water in the needed proportion.
  • After that, add 1/2 cup of milk to the sugar syrup. Let it boil for some time, adding milk to remove impurities in the sugar.
  • Filter the sugar syrup into a large bowl using a white cloth. Take a small portion from the dough, shape it into round balls.
  • Always grease your hands with ghee to avoid stickiness and ensure a perfect shape.
  • Then fry them gradually until you achieve a golden color. Take them out and immerse them in the sugar syrup overnight. Serve.

Notes

  • If you add milk to the sugar syrup, it helps remove dust from the sugar.
