How do you learn to cook? One gets cooking lessons from his or her parents, the other has to do it through the cookbooks. However, there are some handy cooking tips that you just need to know and that are very useful.

Unprepared cooking, or intuitive cooking, is all about building a little more self-confidence in the kitchen. Does that mean something to you, but you don’t know where to start? Try some of the following tips and keep the following points in mind when you start cooking.

    Storing food

If you want to store food in a good vacuum, the following tip. After you put the lid on the container; then ‘flip’ 1 corner of the lid up to let the air out. And close this corner immediately. You sometimes even hear the air go out.

    Hygiene

Dishcloths contain a lot of bacteria. Therefore, do not use them for a long time. Rather change once a day and wash them at a high (60 degrees or higher) temperature.

    Cooking time

Do not cook vegetables, potatoes, and pasta for too long. It is tastier and healthier to eat while there is still some firmness to it. Adding lemon juice while cooking in water makes bitter vegetables, such as chicory, less bitter in taste.

    Steaming

You don’t necessarily have to cook vegetables in water. It is easier and healthier to buy an iron steam basket. It is healthier to cook your vegetables with steam because you don’t waste valuable vitamins with cooking liquid. You bring a little water to the boil in the pan. Place the steamer basket in the pan and place cleaned broccoli stalks. Put the lid on the pan. Pierce the vegetables with a fork after about 5-15 minutes. If the fork goes through the vegetables with ease and the vegetable just doesn’t break, then it is done. Steaming meat is much difficult than vegetables. Visit prepared cooks to learn smart and easier way to cook or steam.

    Salmonella

When cooking, make sure that the knife just used for raw meat or chicken is not used for the other foods. Meat and chicken can contain bacteria that can make you sick. In this way you prevent, for example, a Salmonella contamination.

    Boil over

If you are constantly bothered by pans that overflow during cooking. Then lower the setting of the hob and put the lid on a crack instead of completely on the lid. With pasta dishes, you can add a little butter or oil to make it less likely to boil over.

    Amount of cooking water

When cooking rice, you don’t need a full pot of water if you only want to cook a small amount of rice. Put the rice in the pan and add about two fingers wide. This can provide a general guide to how much water to put in the pan. Just make sure that the pan does not boil dry; so check every now and then whether there is still enough water in the pan.

    Baking meat

If your meat gets too fatty from cooking, it may help to heat up the oil or butter before adding the meat to the pan. Be careful not to burn the fat. When the meat is sufficiently brown on both sides, but not well cooked on the inside; add a little water to the hot pan and place the lid on the pan at an angle. The meat can then simmer. You stop the baking process and steam the food inside.
