Last month, my husband had visited Bhuj. Before leaving for his trip, he asked me what I wanted from this place. Being a food lover, I asked him to bring me something to eat, which is unique and a speciality of Bhuj.
So he brought me, Gulab Pak. Gulab in Hindi means Rose. A sweet dish made of rose petals? Yes, that’s true!
Gulab pak was invented in Kutch region of Gujarat by Khadva Sweets. Khadva is a leading brand of sweet items in Kutch. They are the pioneers in India who make this sweet of pure rose petals.
Gulab pak is made from pure roasted rose petals, almonds, cashew nuts, pistachio’s, milk and sugar. And is beautifully garnished with almonds and rose petals. This renders an aesthetic look to this barfi.
This sweet, is one of the favorite sweets of Kutch people. Having tasted it, now, it is one of my favorite sweets too.
Its rich, creamy and nutty taste is enhanced by the soothing fragrance of rose petals, which completely engulfs the senses!
